Midsomer Norton is a town in Somerset 10 miles south-west of Bath. Following a history stretching back to the Iron Age, Midsomer Norton has been a traditional market town for centuries situated within a very attractive rural area between Bath and the Mendip Hills.
History

River Somer, Midsomer Norton
- Midsomer Norton was originally called Norton Canonicorum, it later became Midsomer Norton.
- Midsummer’s Day (24 June) being the feast day of the parish church’s patron saint, St.John the Baptist.
- Coal mining gave the town and area an impetus when the coming of the railways transformed the conveyance of coal out of the area. Coal mining remained a major industry until the 1960s when mining ceased and the two railway stations closed.
- The town maintains good employment levels int he print industry.
